You do Do not need to spend a lot of money for backdrops for your product photography. When you’re starting out it can be quite simple and you can add to your collection as you grow your business
One of my favorite backdrops is simply a piece of white foam board that I purchased at Michael’s. I use this for my flat lays. You can buy more foam board and some contact paper and cover it , the possibilities are endless for backgrounds
This site uses affiliate links, which means if you click on a link and make a purchase, I will receive a small commission at no cost to you. My opinions remain my own .
Contact paper comes in so many patterns .My favorite one looks like marble countertops. Just peel and stick to cover your foam board . Now shoot your product for your flat lay and it will look like it’s on a beautiful countertop. Alternatively they have bricks ,tiles ,prints, all kinds of designs so check out contact paper at Target
Pick up some extra white foam board because you can use it as a bounce card .That’s a fancy photography word meaning a piece of reflective material .In this case it’s white paper and it will bounce the light from the window to your product. You can also use tinfoil or you can use a piece of black paper depending on the light I’ll show some examples
I also use a piece of tile that I pick up at home-improvement store I want to say it was six dollars and it’s 24” x 24”
What I love about using these types of backdrops is I can move them from room to room ; Wherever the natural light its great. I don’t have to be in my dark kitchen if I need to shoot some thing on the kitchen counter I just use the tile
